Text messages from Council 6793
Program terms for members who opt in · effective September 17, 2026
What the program is
Knights of Columbus Council 6793 (Father Peter Paul Maher Council, Olney, Maryland) sends text messages to its own dues-paying members who have asked for them. Messages are notices of council business and social meetings, reminders of council events and volunteer assignments, and occasional notices about council programs and fundraisers such as the Maryland State Council Cash Incentive Sweepstakes and the Tootsie Roll Drive. The number is used only to reach current members. It is never used to contact the public or to recruit new members.
How members opt in
A member enters his mobile number and ticks the consent box on his own profile page, then saves. The council records the number, the consent and the time, and sends one confirmation text. This is that form, exactly as a member sees it:
The consent language beside the box reads:
Consent is not a condition of membership, and no number is enrolled without it. The council does not add members to the list on their behalf, buy numbers, or text numbers taken from the roster.
How often, and what it costs
About 2 to 6 messages a month, more in a busy week before a large event, fewer in summer. Message and data rates from your carrier may apply.
How to stop
- Reply STOP to any message. You will receive one confirmation that you are unsubscribed, and nothing further.
- Or uncheck the box on your member profile in this portal.
- Reply HELP to any message for these instructions, or email admin@frmaher-council6793.org.
- Reply START to rejoin after stopping.
